Aaliyah Dana Haaughton soared to prominence after the release of the album she dubbed Age Ain't Nothing but A Number in the year 1994. When she was just 15 the album was awarded Gold standing. R. Kelly heavily influenced the group and helped bring her to the forefront. In 1996, she collaborated alongside Jermaine Dupri and Timbaland to release her second album One In A Million which featured the hit number one single If You Only Knew. Aaliyah received international recognition for her R&B singing with the release of this album. Aaliyah starred alongside the legendary martial artist Jet-Li in Romeo Must Die (2000) which was an action-packed romantic film. Joel Silver, film producer and director of the film Romeo Must Die spotted her at an award ceremony. Queen of the Damned was her first film role in 2002. It is based off the Anne Rice novel. The actress is the very first generation of Indian-American born and raised in Connecticut. Mann is a contraction of her husband's final name Mankad. Mann uses Aarti Man and Aarti Mahumdar to refer to her professional name. Though she started her career with minor TV and film performances, her acting career picked up growth in the latter half of 2000s. She has also appeared in Leverage, Suits, Grey's Anatomy and Grey's Anatomy. Commercials for her show have included prominent brands like Volvo. She lives in Los Angeles along with her husband, daughter and pursues her acting profession.
